Fintry Sports Club

Fintry Music Festival  May  22nd - 24th, 2009

This year we continued the success of previous years with another top quality music event.

The concerts, which are run every year as the club’s main fundraising event, had Capercaillie as the headline act.  As expected they provided a top quality performance – fantastic musicianship combined with the beautiful voice of  Karen Matheson –which enthralled the large audience from start to finish.

Supporting Capercaillie were Get Reel, a local organisation dedicated to promoting traditional Scottish music.  They performed very well and were enthusiastically received by the audience.  After Get Reel we had Emma King and the Heartsets  -  a country/rock band from England.  Emma’s strong and classy voice and quality backing from her band would suggest that they are going places in the musical world.  You heard them first at Fintry.

Emma and the band also played on Saturday night when they supported Kings of Queen, a Queen tribute band who, it is fair to say, rocked Fintry with their inimitable style and flair.  A great night was had by another enthusiastic audience – young, old and everything in between.

Sunday night featured the melodic sounds of the Marcus Pope Big Swing Band.  The seventeen-strong ensemble is made up of top instrumentalists from various prestigious orchestras from around UK.  Special mention too must be made of their leader and vocalist who brought the house down with his version of many ‘standards’.

Many thanks to the 1350 people who supported this important fundraising event.
