‘Three sensational nights of top-class music’  -  just one quote, echoed by the 1400 people who attended the Fintry Music Festival held in, and run by, Fintry Sports Club in the indoor bowling stadium.

The headliner on Friday night was Eddi Reader.  She had the audience in the palm of her hand from first song to last.  What a singer !  What a personality !  Some brand new songs – some golden oldies – just what the audience wanted.

The Ian Thompson Band played a superb opening set to get the evening off to a great start.

Saturday night in Fintry will never be quite the same after Salsa Celtica blew the audience away with their combination of Latin American rhythms and Celtic music.  Lucky we had a strong stage as half the audience was on it during the band’s blistering encore.

Sorren Maclean.  Remember the name.  Young Sorren and his band , from Tobermory, captivated the audience with some of his self-penned songs in the warm-up slot.  Those who were at the gig will be able to say, ‘I was there at Fintry before he became famous’.

Beat That – the all-women samba band from Stirling welcomed the audience as they arrived with an excellent outdoor performance – getting everyone in the right mood for the rest of the evening.

What a contrast on Sunday night when the renowned Phoenix Choir under conductor, Marlyn Smith, gave an inspirational performance featuring classical choral pieces as well as some very humorous solos.

Thanks to everyone who attended the festival and made it such a memorable event.

The next musical event at the Sports Club is on 29th August when KOSHKA take to the stage.

This internationally renowned group play a combination of Russian gypsy music and Stephan Grappelli  style jazz and folk music.  If you don’t like this – check your pulse.

The Club is looking for a large audience to welcome such well-known international stars.  Purchase your tickets now at the Sports Club, price £12.
