Club Refurbishment
Several proposed designs for the refurbishment of the lounge and bar are on display in the bar. These designs were prepared by students from the Glasgow Design College. The students presented their designs to the committee and other members before the summer and we were very impressed with the standard of work and grateful for their efforts. The presentations have certainly inspired the committee to try to raise funds for this project.
Planning permission has been granted for extra storage at the gable end of the bowling hall and along the side of the bowling hall adjacent to the river. We are in the throes of applying for the building warrant. These proposed plans are also displayed in the club.
Finally, the committee are preparing grant applications to enable the club to go ahead with both these projects. Neither will be possible without significant grant assistance.
Finance
You will have seen that the committee have unfortunately had to increase membership fees for the forthcoming session. Having held the fees at the same level for three years, and with increasing costs (energy being the main one) we have no option but to increase fees. We believe that even with this increase the club provides exceptional value for members.
The club does not make a profit. All surpluses are reinvested in the club for the benefit of all members.
